At Powdertech Surface Science we have spent over thirty-five years perfecting and providing surface treatments to the automotive, medical and other sectors and we have considerable expertise in lightweight material processing and bonding.
Thousands of parts come through our Bicester facility every week from automotive, medical, lighting and aerospace clients. We are specialists in TiZr bonding treatments and have used the latest Gardobond® chrome-free pre-treatment systems for over a decade. We treat magnesium as well as aluminium, offer Iridite and provide our own Intricoat service for delicate machined components.
Longstanding relationships with many clients mean that we can design individual processes and coatings such as the bespoke coating to be seen on the HPDC aluminium spare wheel carrier component of the latest Land Rover.
The Team
The core PowderBond team comprises our two directors, James Grant and Stuart Corstorphine with R&D overseen by Dr Nick Welton. We are supported by Phil Tyler and Ian Manning in the engineering and operations functions.

Ongoing research
Around our ‘day job’ we regularly participate in UK and EU funded collaborative research projects with industry partners, aimed at finding new and better solutions for manufacturing. We collaborate with other scientific and manufacturing companies, pioneering and testing the latest technology.
